Record number of entries for Moving Image Awards 2017

Our annual Moving Image Awards has received over 400 entries, this is the largest amount of entries we have ever received since the awards inception in 2014.

The Moving Image Awards, designed in partnership with the British Film Institute, recognises and rewards the UK's most talented young film-makers. Every year, students undertaking WJEC qualifications in Film and Media are invited to submit their work for consideration by our panel of judges in categories from Short Film, TV Extract to Music Video and more.

Guest Presenters
The award ceremony has attracted attendees from across the world of film. Guest presenters have included director Corin Hardy and Alice Lowe who have treated guests with filmmaking masterclasses. We will shortly be announcing our guest presenters for the 2017 ceremony, and we promise another star from the world of film.

"We are overwhelmed by the number of entries! The Moving Image Awards is now a staple part of the academic calendar as indicated by the number of entries. The awards has garnered support from teachers and lecturers at a variety of institutions as well as from leading figures within the film industry. I can't wait to watch the entries, I imagine it will be a difficult task for me and the other judges to shortlist."

Rebecca Ellis, Film Studies Subject Officer

The shortlist will be announced in the autumn term. In the interim, check out our Moving Image Awards YouTube Channel to see last year's winners and shortlisted entries.
