5 things you didn’t know about Eduqas

Whether you have taken or taught our examinations, or are completely new to us, here are five things you may not know about Eduqas:

 1. We are 5 years old

Here at Eduqas, we are the youngest of the examination boards. However, our sister brand WJEC has been around for 71 years and that is almost longer than AQA (22 years), Edexcel (23 years) and UCAS (27 years) combined! Eduqas was created in 2014 to respond to the diverging education systems between England and Wales.

2. We are part of a charity

We are a registered trademark of WJEC CBAC Ltd, which is a registered Independent Charity. WJEC was originally established as a consortium of educational authorities in Wales and we have since grown into a charity, which is organised by a largely diverse Board of Directors and a Senior Management Team. This means that every penny we make is recycled back into making our qualifications, resources and support better.

3. We have a diverse Board

We are governed by a very diverse Board. Our Board includes Mindfulness specialist, Elizabeth Williams, President of the Association of Accounting Technicians, Mike Evans and former UK Young Engineer of the Year winner, Jessica Leigh.

Look at their profiles (alongside all our other members) here

4. All our subject officers are ex-teachers

Our subject officers, being ex-teachers, means that they have a wealth of experience within the field of education and know first-hand what it is like to teach their subject and the best ways to provide support to teachers, students and parents.

You can find your subject team contacts on our qualifications page.

5. Our resources are completely free

We have a team of subject experts and web developers that create free digital resources to support the teaching and learning of our qualifications. You can follow our dedicated in-house team on Twitter - @Eduqas_EdRes or visit our Educational Resources website.

There you have it. The top 5 facts about Eduqas that you may not have known before! We hope you have learnt something and now know how we can support you further.
