Celebrating UK talent
Our annual awards ceremony has garnered support from teachers and lecturers at a variety of institutions as well as from leading figures within the film industry.

This year's event will again be hosted by the charismatic film-maker and former BBC Radio 6Music presenter Iyare Igiehon. Iyare is a former BBC6 Music presenter and regular on BBC 5Live’s ‘Fighting Talk’. Igiehon is also the founder of the diversity initiative S.O.U.L. (Screening Our Unseen Lives) which is an advocate for diverse voices in British film and TV.

Special Guest
As part of the ceremony, we are thrilled to announce that our special guest is Oscar-nominated and award-winning British writer Matt Charman.

His film, BRIDGE OF SPIES (2015), was a Cold War thriller directed by Steven Spielberg and co-written with Joel and Ethan Coen. The film starred Tom Hanks, Alan Alda and Mark Rylance and earned Charman a BAFTA, Academy Award and WGA nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Previously, he co-wrote SUITE FRANCAISE (2014) with director Saul Dibb, starring Michelle Williams, Kristin Scott Thomas and Margot Robbie.

In addition to attending the ceremony and watching the work of our candidates, Matt will also be delivering a screenwriting masterclass, offering invaluable advice to future filmmakers.

Guest Presenters
For the third year, film critics and broadcasters Larushka Ivan-Zadeh and Anna Smith will deliver an interactive talk on ways into Film Journalism.

Larushka has been Chief Film Critic at Metro for over a decade, which became the most read UK newspaper in 2017. She is also a broadcaster who regularly talks about movies on Sky News and across the BBC. Larushka is a patron of the British Urban Film Festival and has served on numerous film juries including the BAFTA EE Rising Star Award and British Independent Film Awards.

Anna Smith is a contributor to The Guardian, Sight & Sound, Time Out, Metro, Empire, The Hollywood Reporter and many more. She is a regular film expert on The Film Review (BBC News TV), Sky News and BBC Radio. A former magazine editor, Anna has spent over a decade specialising in film and has been Vice Chair of the London Film Critics’ Circle since 2009.

Entrants came from across the country, and during the ceremony the shortlist for each category will be shown at the prestigious venue. The full shortlist is available to view online.
