‚Äč

WJEC Exam board and education charity has appointed Roderic Gillespie as its new Chief Executive.

Roderic Gillespie will join WJEC/WJEC Eduqas on 1st June 2018  from Cambridge International where he has been Director of Assessment since 2014. He has previously been Head of Curriculum for Excellence, Head of National Qualifications and a Qualifications Manager at the Scottish Qualifications Authority.  With a decade’s experience in teaching and college management, his professional interests include educational reform, curriculum management, assessment and pedagogy.

Mike Evans, Chair of WJEC's Board of Trustees said that, " Roderic has shown extensive commitment to the education sector in the UK and internationally, understands the challenges faced by teachers and awarding bodies and will be able to build upon the success of both WJEC and Eduqas. His experience and enthusiasm will no doubt have a positive impact on the organisation as a whole."

Our current Chief Executive, Gareth Pierce, will step down on the 31st May 2018. Gareth took up the role in 2004 and has led the organisation through a period of significant qualifications reform, reinforcing WJEC’s position as a major awarding body in both Wales and England.
