Input and Submission of Internal Assessment Marks/Outcomes

It is a JCQ requirement that before submitting marks, centres must ensure that they have followed their internal appeals procedure. Candidates must be informed of their centre assessed marks so that they may request a review of the centre’s marking before marks are submitted to WJEC. Further information is available on the JCQ website.

Centres input and submit internal assessment marks/outcomes via IAMIS. Exams Officer and Admin users have automatic access to IAMIS. Other users can request access from their centre’s Exams Officer and/or Admin users.

Alternatively, internal assessment marks/outcomes can be submitted by EDI. EDI files take up to 72 hours to process at which point IAMIS will be pre-populated with the submitted marks/outcomes. Centres must still then access IAMIS to submit the marks/outcomes to WJEC.

Externally marked and/or externally set practical examinations taken at different times across centres are forms of Non-Examination Assessment (NEA).

Consortia Policy 

Definition and Policy

A consortium is an arrangement between two or more centres to offer qualifications. Candidates from different entering centres are taught and assessed together as one group. Consortium arrangements are only available for internally assessed Non-Examination Assessment (NEA) units/components and certain externally assessed NEA units/components.

If your centre is involved in any such arrangements, please ensure that you have read our Consortia Policy. 

Centre Consortium Arrangements

When centres are involved in a consortium arrangement for internally assessed units/components, the Centre Consortium Arrangements form on the JCQ Centre Admin Portal (accessible via Portal) must be completed. 

This will enable the candidates involved in the arrangement to be treated as a single group for the moderation of internally assessed work. Centres must notify us if there are any significant changes to the data on this form after it has been submitted. 

Centre consortium co-ordinator

The centres involved in consortium arrangements must nominate a consortium co-ordinator, who will liaise with the relevant awarding body on behalf of all centres in the consortium. If there are different co-ordinators for different qualifications, a Centre Consortium Arrangements form must be completed for each qualification. 

Partial Consortium Arrangements

In circumstances where some of the candidates entered by a centre for a qualification are taught at that centre, but one or more of their other entered candidates for that qualification are taught and assessed at a different centre, the partial consortium form must be completed and returned to Consortia@wjec.co.uk
