A Level Results 2025: What’s next for you?
You’ve done it, Results Day has arrived! Whether you’ve completed A Levels, Level 3 Diplomas, the Skills Challenge Certificate, the Extended Project, or other qualifications, this is a major milestone.
So… what’s next?
Whether you’re celebrating, reassessing, or still deciding, here are some paths to consider now that you’ve reached this exciting crossroad.
University
If you’ve accepted a place at university, congratulations! You’re about to explore a subject you (hopefully) love, meet new people, and start carving out your future.
But if your plans have changed or your results didn’t go as expected, don’t worry - you’ve still got options:
- Clearing is open - explore courses that might suit you even better.
- Deferred entry or gap years are totally valid if you need time to decide.
- Foundation courses can help you build up to your chosen subject.
Remember: University is a big decision. Make sure it fits your interests, not just expectations.
Getting into Work
Ready to earn and learn in the real world? Now’s a great time to jump into the job market.
You could:
- Apply for entry-level roles in industries you’re curious about
- Try part-time or temporary jobs to gain experience while you plan your next move
- Explore school leaver programmes that offer training and career progression
The experience you gain now can shape your future career, and it looks great on your CV.
Higher Apprenticeships
Not sure whether to work or study? Why not do both?
A Higher Apprenticeship lets you:
- Work in a real job
- Gain valuable qualifications (up to degree level)
- Earn a wage while learning
It’s a fantastic choice if you prefer hands-on learning and want to avoid university debt.
Volunteering & Work Experience
Not everything has to be about immediate income or qualifications. Volunteering and work experience can be just as valuable.
- Boost your personal statement if you’re applying to university later
- Gain relevant experience that employers love
- Try out different roles and build confidence
Check out local charities, community projects, or short-term placements near you.
Take Time to Reflect
Whatever path you choose, make sure it’s yours. Talk to:
- Teachers or tutors
- Careers advisers
- Friends and family
But trust your instincts. Everyone’s journey looks different, and there’s no rush to have it all figured out right now.
You’ve Got This
This is just the beginning. Whether you’re off to university, diving into work, starting an apprenticeship, or figuring it out step-by-step, you’re building your future.
Congratulations on your results and good luck with whatever comes next!
