Awarding body welcomes DfE's announcement on new Vocational GCSEs
Leading awarding body WJEC, which operates as Eduqas in England, has welcomed the Department for Education's (DfE) announcement that students in England will be able to study new Vocational GCSEs, helping place technical education on an equal footing with traditional academic pathways.

The new Vocational GCSEs will be available from September 2029.

New subjects will be developed as part of a review of existing GCSEs and new Vocational GCSEs, to create a complementary set of qualifications that give students greater choice.

The government is launching a National Mission on Work Experience, working alongside the Good Growth Business Forum and other businesses, to boost opportunities outside the classroom.
