Summer 2021 – Assessment announcements in Wales
Teachers and learners in England may have noticed that we continue to post updates on our WJEC website relating to the Welsh Government’s approach to assessments in 2021, following its decision to cancel summer exams for GCSE, AS and A level qualifications in Wales.
What do the announcements mean to learners in England?
- Announcements made by Welsh Government or Qualifications Wales do not impact Eduqas GCSE, AS and A level qualifications taken by schools and colleges in England (or other jurisdictions), as these are regulated by Ofqual.
- In England, the approach is that examinations will go ahead in the Summer.
- Exams will also take place for our vocational/non-general qualifications (including Entry, Level 1/2 and 3).
- Non-Exam Assessment (NEA): NEA will continue for 2021 as previously outlined in the NEA Adaptations guidance on the qualifications pages on our website (under folder ‘Summer 2021 Adaptations’)
Information and updates on Summer 2021 assessments in England will be posted on our Eduqas website. In addition, we recommend that teachers subscribe to our Eduqas e-mailing list and follow us on social media for the latest updates, resources and training opportunities.
We appreciate your continued patience during this difficult time.
