Curriculum and Assessment Reform

Change is on the way. We’re here to help.

With curriculum and assessment change in England coming soon, Eduqas is here to support you every step of the way.

We are proud to support the development of a curriculum that will offer learners more flexibility and choice while also providing teachers with the clarity and space to focus on what matters.

Eduqas will develop a range of new specifications in-line with the Department of Education’s recommendations, each backed by the comprehensive package of support that our centres have come to expect from us.

We'll work closely with you throughout the process to ensure we're building qualifications that support learners to develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.

Post-16 Qualification Reform

Post-16 qualification reforms will be the first to take effect from September 2027, with the first teaching of new V Level and Level 2 pathway qualifications.

V Levels with Eduqas

V Levels are a brand-new type of qualification for first teaching in September 2027, equivalent in size to A Levels.

Eduqas will be developing specifications for all three initial V Level qualifications:

  • V Level Digital Systems and Data

  • V Level Education and Early Years

  • V Level Accounting and Finance

More V Levels will be introduced on a route-by-route basis between the 2027/28 and 2030/31 academic years.

Level 2 Pathways with Eduqas

New Level 2 Pathway qualifications will be introduced in September 2027 to support progression into employment, apprenticeships, or further study.

Level 2 Occupational Pathway qualifications are designed for learners to progress into employment or apprenticeships. The 2-year programme combines sector knowledge, occupational skills, English and maths, and employability development.

Level 2 Foundation Pathway qualifications are one year programmes designed for learners aiming to progress into Level 3 qualifications such as A Levels, V Levels or T Levels. They focus on vocational learning, English and maths, study skills, and readiness for Level 3 study.

GCSE Qualification Reform

The first reformed GCSE specifications will be available for teaching in September 2029.

These new qualifications will aim to reduce content overload while embedding key concepts such as climate change, sustainability and digital literacy across a range of subjects.

Eduqas will work in partnership with teachers and stakeholders to design a suite of accessible and engaging specifications based around these principles while meeting the needs of learners.
