Final entries can be made either by Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) or via the WJEC secure website.
Full details regarding these processes including the relevant deadlines can be found in our Entry Procedures and Coding booklet.
Late entries are those which are made after the amendment deadline, and very late entries are those which are made after the late entry deadline. Additional fees are charged for any entries made after each of these deadlines have passed.
Our entry fees (including late and very late fees) are published in our fees documents
Information regarding resitting qualifications is available in our Guide to Resit Requirements.
Entry Codes, Qualification Approval Numbers (QANs) and series availability
Entry codes, series availability and QANs can be found in our Entry Procedures and Coding booklet.
Entry Amendments and Withdrawals
When making amendments to entries, centres must use the same entry method that they used when submitting their initial entries (either via EDI or the secure website).
All entry and amendment deadlines are listed in the Entry Procedures and Coding booklet. Details on chargeable amendments and the fees for these are listed in our fees documents above.

- GCSE (9-1) Latin
- GCSE (9-1) Sociology

Information about GCSE and GCE qualification reform in Wales is available on the Qualifications Wales website.
Preliminary entries provide us with an estimate of the number of candidates that centres intend to enter for a unit or qualification. They are normally mandatory for the June series, however we will not be collecting preliminary entries for the June 2022 series. Centres may be contacted directly to provide an estimate of entry numbers for a small number of specific subjects for this series.
Basedata is required by any centre wishing to make entries using EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). It is imported into a centre's Management Information System (MIS) and contains all the necessary information for the various subjects that WJEC Eduqas offer, providing details of how each subject breaks down into its constituent parts, e.g. options, components, papers, maximum marks, exam dates, fees, etc.
Download basedata here>
It is essential that for each examination level and series, centres use the latest version of basedata available.
Each candidate must be issued with a UCI. This thirteen-digit number forms part of the candidate entry. Centres must always keep a candidate's original UCI and not create a new one if they move centres, but it is particularly important for unitised specifications and if carrying forward NEA marks.
Further information regarding UCIs is available on the JCQ website.
A tool for creating UCI's is available here>
Summer 2021: Qualification entry fees
It’s been a year like no other for all of us, and we’re pleased to confirm that we have updated schools and colleges on the discount they will receive to this summer’s qualification entry fees - please see our news item here.
Further detail around invoicing is available here.
Entry Fees: November (2021) and January (2022)
Under these exceptional circumstances, we can confirm that entry fees for our November and January exams will remain the same as those for our Summer 2021 series - as originally published here.
Entry fees cover a range of costs
As a charity, we would never seek to take advantage of the current circumstances and are committed to reinvesting in continuously improving the support we provide to schools, colleges, and learners, as we do every year.
Our fees not only cover the costs associated with running and delivering summer exams; they’re also needed to fund the development of new qualifications. We also provide a cycle of continuous support including direct access to subject specialists, centre support teams, regional representatives, free resources, and professional learning opportunities.
Supporting centres during this exceptional year
Following the cancellation of this summer’s exams, we have developed a range of new systems and processes to ensure learners receive a valid grade this summer.
We have also invested significantly in a new and extensive package of support to help schools and colleges assess their learners with confidence, including comprehensive training opportunities, assessment materials, exemplars, and detailed professional guidance. This includes:
- More than 1,600 adapted past papers and mark schemes
- Interactive training sessions – viewed more than 4,000 times
- More than 1,000 new FREE teaching and learning resources
We would like to reassure you that we’re committed to doing everything we can to support you.
